Message about Child Protection Policy

MESSAGE FROM LES ATKINSON, CHAIRPERSON

In view of recent press coverage regarding the issue of abuse in youth football we would like to reassure players and parents that we follow a strict protocol to recruit and screen volunteers who work directly with players and also have a Club Child Protection Policy and Officer, and all age groups/teams have an allocated Child Protection Officer too.

All volunteers meet with a member of the Youth Section Committee and volunteer coaches also meet with the Coach Development Officer.  Volunteer application forms are completed and references provided.  Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) checks are completed for Spartans FC Youth and, Scottish Youth Football Association (SYFA) when volunteers are registered on the SYFA database.

Anyone with any concerns should speak to their age group/team Child Protection Officer. If you don’t know who this is then ask your Head Coach.

Alternatively get in touch with the Club Child Protection Officer or any member of the Youth Section Committee.

Full Details of Easter Appeal 2016

Following the success of our 2014 & 2015 Easter appeals, The Spartans Community Football Academy would like to continue our support to the people of North Edinburgh in 2016.  Last year, we donated over 400 Easter Eggs to our local foodbanks. This year, we would like to offer support again to ensure that no child in our local community goes without an Easter Egg this Easter.

What can you do to help?

Between now and Thursday 24th March, we are hoping to collect and donate 300+ Easter Eggs to donate to local foodbanks.  If you can spare an egg then please donate and make a child happy this Easter!

Where can you drop off any donations?

Any donations can be dropped off at main office at The Spartans Community Football Academy, Ainslie Park, 94 Pilton Drive, Edinburgh, EH5 2HF.  We will then arrange for all the eggs to be delivered to the foodbanks in time for Easter.

Thank you for donations to Trussell Trust – SCFA Christmas Appeal

As part of the Spartans family, Spartans Youth were supporters of the Spartans Community Football Academy annual appeal at Christmas 2015.  As a result of the appeal, SCFA donated an incredible quantity of food to people in need in the North Edinburgh community.  Trussell Trust, the organisation that SCFA donated to, have sent over a kind letter expressing their gratitude for the donation.

The letter is on the SCFA Twitter feed – link posted below.  Please note you do not need to have a Twitter account to view the tweet… please have a look
