Well done to Spartans FC U13 Whites (2004) who have reached the Edinburgh Cup Final!
They are hoping for a good crowd so try to get along as kick-off is 11.00 on Sunday 23rd April 2017 and the match is at New Dundas Park, Bonnyrigg.
We’ll aim to post photos and match info in the days after the match.
Last year with your help we collected and donated almost 300 Easter Eggs to children in the North Edinburgh community. This year, we would like to offer support again to ensure that children in our community don’t miss out on a visit from the Easter bunny.
What can you do to help? Before Wednesday 12th April, we are hoping to collect as many Easter Eggs as we can. Our target is to surpass last year’s total of 300 eggs. If you can spare an egg, then please donate and make a child happy this Easter!
Where can you drop off any donations?
Any donations can be dropped off at main office at The Spartans Community Football Academy, Ainslie Park, 94 Pilton Drive, Edinburgh, EH5 2HF. We will then arrange for all the eggs to be delivered to our local foodbanks before Easter Sunday.
Thank you #hereforgood

Spartans Youth are delighted to welcome Chris Sim as the 2010s Head Coach… so we asked him for a pen portrait!
I was previously the Head Coach of the 2005’s and assistant head coach of the 1999’s at Polbeth Community Football Club where I worked with the club for four years. I have a passion for football and developing youngsters and recently completed my Children’s award and would love to go on and complete my advanced children’s licence as well as starting on the main pathway and aiming toward my C licence.
As well as Spartans I coach walking age to 5 year old children at Edinburgh University on a Sunday morning which I have been doing for a year. I had a short career as a central defender for various amateur teams in West Lothian where I was also club captain however retired due to injuries!!
I am a season ticket holder at Hearts and have been for 12 years. I love nothing more than a Scottish Cup win or a victory over Hibs!!!!! (Bad timing that one)
I am married and have an 18 month old daughter. I have recently taken up running, last year completing the Edinburgh 10k and the half marathon. My full time job is as an IT Analyst at a major bank where I have worked for five years however I hope one day to coach full time.
Cup Finals Are Coming Up!
As we enter the last few months of the season some of our teams are booking their place in cup finals. Congratulations to the U13 Reds and Whites who have already reached Cup finals.
All finals will be listed on the following link so have a look and put the dates in your diary.
Spartans coaches Iain Scott, Alan Struthers, Terry Manning and Nigel Miller successfully gained their SFA 1.2 Coaching Footballers 13+ qualifications at Meadowfield today. Iain, Alan and Terry are all coaching with our 2005s and are progressing to 11-a-sides this year so were making sure that they had these Main Pathway certificates.
Well done guys!

MESSAGE FROM LES ATKINSON, CHAIRPERSON
In view of recent press coverage regarding the issue of abuse in youth football we would like to reassure players and parents that we follow a strict protocol to recruit and screen volunteers who work directly with players and also have a Club Child Protection Policy and Officer, and all age groups/teams have an allocated Child Protection Officer too.
All volunteers meet with a member of the Youth Section Committee and volunteer coaches also meet with the Coach Development Officer. Volunteer application forms are completed and references provided. Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) checks are completed for Spartans FC Youth and, Scottish Youth Football Association (SYFA) when volunteers are registered on the SYFA database.
Anyone with any concerns should speak to their age group/team Child Protection Officer. If you don’t know who this is then ask your Head Coach.
Alternatively get in touch with the Club Child Protection Officer or any member of the Youth Section Committee.
