A dedicated bunch of players, parents and volunteers have survived another footballing emotional rollercoaster of cheers and tears!
The Spartans Family have once again shown that we Live Together, Play Together, Win Together. Sometimes we’ll lose together too, but that’s football for you.
We recently asked on our Facebook and Twitter pages what your favourite moments or memories throughout the year were.
One comment, posted by Hugh ‘Shuggs’ Wales stuck out and we thought it was definitely worth sharing here:
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank Kevin Wilson for everything he has done for our team Spartans FC 19’s. I’ll give you a bit of background.
Two weeks before season 14/15 started I received a call from Kevin who was in Spain at the time to tell me that one of the coaches had left and taken 8 players with him to another club. He asked me if I wanted to get involved and keep the team going.
I agreed and we had our first training session on a soaking wet day at inverleith with just six players a week before our first game of the season. Kevin worked tirelessly to get us sorted with players/kit/training slots and general administration duties.
We had a not bad season but no way set any heather alight. We started very early this season 3rd of June was our first preseason training session and we got the lads fit and raring to go for the season ahead.
We had a cracking start to the season with a cracking unbeaten run and took a few scalps from the division above us. It looked like a possible treble was on the cards with us reaching two finals and sitting top of the league for most of the season.
Heartbreakingly so we faltered in the last few games of the season and lost both cup finals. The lads were fantastic all season and deserved some glory and I’d like to thank every one of them for their efforts.
Kevin is leaving the team that he built with myself and I and all the lads would like to wish him well and thank him for everything he has done for us.
Kevin is everything that is Spartans FC and is a coach the club should be proud of.”
Wow. Do you have any magic memories to share? Why not post them on the thread over on our Facebook page!
